This is a very common and debilitating condition which arises from use of pain medications, particularly those containing butalbital, to abort headaches--the headaches start coming more frequently, requiring more frequent use of the med, until you have daily headaches that respond poorly to almost any treatment (there is treatment available, but you'll need to consult a neurologist who has a real interest in headaches to really fix the problem).
